When the Iron Gate Global Advisors team was presented with an opportunity to team with Sam Sonntag, the clouds broke and a ray of light shone through. Here was an opportunity to build an entirely new type of investor education firm.

A firm where the conflict of interest present in some of the largest education companies in the country to increase trading transactions for their parent company was removed.

A firm where investors could learn to trade with a small portion of their portfolio while the bulk of their investments were managed by Iron Gate Global Advisors, a firm with a history of truly exceptional performance in the markets.

A firm that could offer support services like watchlist management, one-on-one coaching and a library of informational help videos to make each investor more productive, efficient and disciplined.

Sam Sonntag, CMT – Director of Education

Sam co-founded Iron Gate Financial Education in Aug 2016 and is responsible for the day to day operations including curriculum development and fulfillment.  Sam brings the experience and practical knowledge necessary to create and teach investor education in an understandable way. Iron Gate students become confident investors as a result.

Sam has the unique ability to make complex topics easy to understand and is known for his genuine care and concern for the investing students he teaches. He is also an expert in technical analysis and has been a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) since 2009.

Prior to Iron Gate Financial Education, Sam operated his own investor education business (Thinker Trading Academy). Sam was also employed at Investools from TD Ameritrade® for 8 years.   His responsibilities included managing a team of investing coaches responsible for providing educational fulfillment through one-on-one coaching, online and in-person investing workshops.

Sam has nearly 20 years of market experience as has been an investing instructor for 13 years. He has taught thousands of investing students from all over the world in live and online workshops and one-on-one settings. He focuses his teaching on customizing a consistent and repeatable trading plan for each of his students. Trading Psychology and Risk Management are mainstays in his teachings. He is able to quickly condense all the “trading noise” into a usable trading plan that results in more confidence, efficiency and consistency.

Sam enjoys outdoor adventuring with his wife and four daughters whether rock climbing, skiing or backpacking. He is skilled in outdoor survival and often daydreams about being dropped off in the middle of the desert with few supplies to remind him of the simple and important things in life.
